Keeping Your Child Safe on Roblox: How to Check Privacy Settings

Roblox is a popular online game platform that allows users to create and play games with others. While it can be a fun and educational experience, it’s important for parents to set up Roblox privacy settings to ensure their child’s safety. Here’s our step-by-step to help you keep kids safe on Roblox by adjusting security and privacy settings.

Step 1: Log Into Your Child’s Account

To manage Roblox parental controls, start by logging into your child’s account at www.roblox.com.

Step 2: Open the Account Settings

  • Click the gear icon (⚙️) in the top-right corner (on a computer) or tap the three dots (⋮) on mobile.

  • Select "Settings" from the menu.

Step 3: Adjust Privacy Settings

  • Navigate to the Privacy tab on the left-hand menu.

  • Under Contact Settings, decide who can:

    • Message your child

    • Chat with them in games

    • Send friend requests

Best practice: For younger children, set these options to “Friends” or “No One” to prevent interactions with strangers.

Step 4: Enable Account Restrictions

Turning on Roblox account restrictions ensures your child can only access age-appropriate games. To activate:

  1. Scroll down to “Account Restrictions”

  2. Toggle the switch to ON

This feature blocks access to potentially inappropriate content and ensures a safer experience.

Step 5: Set a Parent PIN for Extra Security

To prevent children from changing settings:

  1. Navigate to Parental Controls

  2. Set up a 4-digit Parent PIN

This ensures only you can modify privacy and security settings.

Step 6: Regularly Monitor Your Child’s Roblox Activity

To maintain a safe Roblox experience, periodically check:

  • Friend lists

  • Chat history (under Messages)

  • Games played

Encourage your child to report inappropriate behavior and avoid sharing personal information.

Setting up safe Roblox settings for young kids is simple but essential. By following these steps, you can protect children on Roblox and give them a safe gaming experience. Regularly checking privacy settings helps keep your child secure while they enjoy their favorite games.

Talking to your child about Roblox and understanding why they love playing, showing an interest and setting boundaries together is also an opportunity to bond, helping you to guide them in using the platform safely.

Our online coding lessons for children aged 6-12 are also a great way to help kids understand and use technology safely.

If your child is enthusiastic about technology they’ll love building their own games and animations in our weekly online coding classes. Learning to code at a young age helps children develop skills in STEM, computing, communication, critical thinking and creativity and it can have a positive impact on other areas of their education such as maths or learning a foreign language.
