Earth Day: Calling all future scientists, engineers and coders!
Our current theme in our weekly online coding classes for kids is Planetary Exploration. Whilst creating games and animations on far away planets with aliens is exciting, fun and creative, at the core of what our kids are learning are the skills to be future ready here on Earth!
April 22nd is Earth Day and here are some clever inventions to demonstrate the power of innovation and the potential for technology to provide solutions to some of the most pressing environmental problems we face. Our kids are going to be part of this future and we can help them develop the skills needed to work creatively within these industries.
The Ocean Cleanup: The Ocean Cleanup is an innovative system that is designed to clean up plastic waste from the oceans. It uses a combination of floating barriers and currents to collect and remove plastic debris from the water.
Air pollution towers: Air pollution towers are designed to clean the air by sucking in polluted air and filtering out harmful particles. The clean air is then released back into the environment, helping to improve air quality.
Plastic-eating enzymes: Scientists have discovered enzymes that can break down plastic, reducing the amount of plastic waste in the environment. These enzymes could be used to create a more sustainable and eco-friendly future.
